    Log into Virtuemart
    Choose the Products Menu
    Click on List

Adding a product

    Log in to the administration page of your website
    In the top left menu go to “Components” and then “Virtuemart”
    In the left hand menu; click on the “Products” rollout and then click on “List Products”. This will provide you with a list of your current products.
    To add a new one, in the left hand menu go to “Add Product”, or in the top right click on “New”.
    In this page fill out the information. Such as the product name, its category, its net product price and gross product price. As well as a short description and an in-depth description of your product.
    In the “Display Options” tab you can set up how the product is displayed
    In the “Product Status” tab you can add information on the number of items in stock, the minimum number that you can purchase and the maximum number. You can also specify the date that the product is going to be available as well as the availability (this is covered later in the help).
    The “Product Dimensions and Weight” tab gives you the ability to enter in the dimensions and weight of your product. You can also specify the units of measurement.
    Use the “Product Images” tab to upload images of your product.
        On the left hand side there is the “Full Image” section. This is where you upload the high res image of your product.
        The right hand side is the “Thumbnail Image” section. You upload a thumbnail of your product here. It is displayed when products are being listed.
    Use the “Related Products” tab to link to related products.
    Then click “Save” in the top right hand corner.

Editing a product

    Log in to the administration page of your website.
    In the top left menu go to “Components” and then “Virtuemart”
    In the left hand menu; click on the “Products” rollout and then click on “List Products”. This will provide you with a list of your current products.
    Scroll through the list, or use the search function to find the desired product. Then click on the name of the product that is going to be edited.
    The following screen shows all the details of the product allowing you to edit the necessary fields of the product.
    If you go through the other tabs, you can edit other attributes of the product.
    When finished, click “Save” in the top right hand corner.

Deleting a product

    Log in to the administration page of your website.
    In the top left menu go to “Components” and then “Virtuemart”
    In the left hand menu; click on the “Products” rollout and then click on “List Products”. This will provide you with a list of your current products.
    Scroll through the list, or use the search function, to locate the product that you wish to delete.
    Then tick the check box next to the name of the product and in the top right hand corner click “Remove”. There is also a remove column in the list of products.
    A pop-up will show asking you “Are you sure” click “Ok” and it shall be removed.

Setting availability

    Log in to the administration page of your website.
    In the top left menu go to “Components” and then “Virtuemart”
    In the left hand menu; click on the “Products” rollout and then click on “List Products”. This will provide you with a list of your current products.
    Scroll through the list, or use the search function, to locate the product that you wish to edit.
    Click on the products name and then click on the “Product Status” tab.
    Enter the products availability into the “Availability” text box. This can be anything, such as “On order”, “24 Hours”, “3 – 5 Days”. You can also select an image of your availability.
    Click on the drop down box to view the common availability options.
    Once you are happy with the availability, click on “Save”.

Product ratings & testimonials

    Log in to the administration page of your website.
    In the top left menu go to “Components” and then “Virtuemart”
    In the left hand menu; click on the “Products” rollout and then click on “List Products”. This will provide you with a list of your current products.
    Scroll through the list, or use the search function, to locate the product that you wish to add a review to.
    Then on the right hand side there is a “Customer Reviews” column. Click the “Add Review” link.
    You will then be given a large textbox and stars that you can click on. Select the number of stars that the reviewer gave the product.
    Fill in the text for the review.
    Click “Save” in the top right hand corner.

Featuring products

    Log in to the administration page of your website.
    In the top left menu go to “Components” and then “Virtuemart”
    In the left hand menu; click on the “Products” rollout and then click on “List Products”. This will provide you with a list of your current products.
    Scroll through the list, or use the search function, to locate the product that you wish to feature.
    Click on the product’s name and then click on the “Product Status” tab.
    Then tick the “On Special” check box.
    Click the “Save” button in the top right hand corner.

Multiple images and files per product

    Log into the administration page of your website
    In the top left menu, go to “Components” and then “Virtuemart”
    In the left hand menu, click on the “Products” roll out and then click on “List Products”. This will provide you with a list of your current products.
    Scroll through the list, or use the search function, to find the appropriate product that you wish to delete.
    Click on the name of the product. This will show you the product page.
    Next, in the left hand menu click on “Add Image/File”.
    You will be shown a new page that allows you to upload a file that is then attached to the product.
    Click on “Save” in the top right hand corner.

Product attributes - adding

    Log into the administration page of your website
    In the top left menu, go to “Components” and then “Virtuemart”
    In the left hand menu, click on the “Products” roll out and then click on “List Products”. This will provide you with a list of your current products.
    Scroll through the list, or use the search function, to find the appropriate product that you wish to add attributes to.
    Click on the product’s name, then go to the “Product Status” tab.
    Find the “Attribute List” section. In this section is where you will be entering the different attributes of the product
    Click in the “Title” textbox and add a title for the attribute. This could be something like “Size” or “Colour”.
    Then in the “Property” text box click type what the property is. An example would be “Small” or “Red”.
    In the “Price” text box you enter the amount that the price will change with each different selection. This means that if “Small” is selected by the shopper the product may cost 4 dollars less. In this case you would enter “-4”. If you had an option for “Extra Large” you can make the item cost 15 dollars more. Thus you would enter “+15”. If the product’s price doesn’t change, leave the field blank.
    To add a new property, click on “New Property”. This will add another property to the attribute.
    If you wish for another attribute, click on “New Attribute”.
    At the bottom there is the “Custom Attribute List” field. This is where you can enter the field that will allow the user to give customization to their product. For example, you could enter “Text” and the user would enter the text that they wish to be embroidered onto a garment.
        To add multiple custom attributes, add a semi colon ( ; ) between the different custom attributes.

Product types

    Log into the administration page of your website
    In the top left menu, go to “Components” and then “Virtuemart”
    In the left hand menu, click on the “Products” roll out and then click on “Products Type List”. This will give you a list of all of your different product types.
    To add a new one, click on “Add Product Type” in the left hand menu. Or click on “New” in the top right hand corner.
        You will be shown a page that allows you to enter the name of the product type and the description of the type.
        Then click on “Save” in the top right corner.
    To remove a product type, click on “Product Type List” in the left hand menu.
        Find the product type that you wish to remove and then tick the check box and click on “Remove” in the top right hand corner. You can also click on the rubbish bin icon in the “Remove” column.
        A pop-up will appear requesting you to be sure that you wish to delete it. Click on “Ok” and it will be removed.
    To edit a product type, click on “Product Type List” in the left hand menu
        Find the product that you wish to edit.
        Click on the name of the product.
        Edit the information.
        Click on “Save” in the top right hand corner.

Multiple prices per product

    Log into the administration page of your website
    In the top left menu, go to “Components” and then “Virtuemart”
    In the left hand menu, click on the “Products” roll out and then click on “List Products”. This will give you a list of all of your different products.
    Search through the list, either using the search, or by going through the list of products manually.
    Once you have found the product that is to have multiple prices, click on its name.
    This will show you the “Product Information” page. In the left hand menu, click on “Add Price”.
    You will be shown a list of prices for that product. Next click on “New” in the top right corner.
    On this screen you are asked to enter the price of the product, what currency it is in and the shopper group that it will be applied to.
    You can also enter information in regards to the quantity. For example, if you enter an amount of 1 to 5. The first 5 items of that product that a customer orders will be at the designated price each. If you then specify another price that ranges from 6 – 10. Then when the customer orders 8 items, they will get that price instead.
    Once you have entered in the details, click on “Save” in the top right.
    To remove the prices, click on the remove icon in the “Remove” column or tick the price and then click “Remove” in the top right.
